School Council - Let's Talk

At St Martin’s we believe that the personal and social development of all learners can be enhanced by a school environment where all children feel safe and valued, and for which they have some responsibility.
Every child has the right to be heard and know that their opinions and ideas matter. One of the ways we ensure this happens is through our School Council. This year, we are trialling a different approach to School Council where, rather than having two elected school council representatives per class, all children across the school are invited to join us to discuss the topic of the term during our 'Let's Talk' sessions. This allows every child's voice to be heard and for children to take on a role of responsibility when they feel passionate to do so!
During Let's Talk sessions we are reminded to:
Always work together as a team.
Be reliable and responsible.
Listen to all the suggestions and ideas.
Always respect other people’s opinions and points of view.
